ROD
BLACK MAKES STAR APPEARANCE ON KIDS’ CARTOON
For Immediate Release — April 3, 2002 (Vancouver, BC) — CTV/TSN sportscaster and Canada AM co-host Rod Black is set to make his cartoon debut as the character and voice of Rod Blackbird in an upcoming episode of the popular kids’ cartoon series D’Myna Leagues, airing this Saturday, April 6 on CTV at 11:00 a.m. ET. The cartoon character Rod Blackbird, a documentary filmmaker, is trying to find an angle for a story on D’Mynas in the upcoming episode, entitled “A Starling is Born”. When the antics of a clutzy duckling catches the attention of Blackbird, all eyes are on the kid to see if he can live up to Hollywood’s expectations. Rod participated in the voice recording session at Studio B Productions last fall. “We really enjoyed working with Rod in the studio,” says Blair Peters, co-founder and partner, Studio B Productions. “Obviously he really loves sports, so it was a natural fit for him to be included in an episode, and we think that his fans will appreciate his Rod Blackbird character too.” D’Myna Leagues is an animated children’s series for 7 to 11 year-olds created by Vancouver-based Studio B Productions.
